Students Celebrate National Manufacturing Day

Fri, 27 Sep 2024

Last week, a group of Year 8 students enjoyed a visit to local business, Iconsys based at Stafford Park in Telford.  Established in 1987, Iconsys is a leading UK power and automation solutions provider and systems integrator. They invited 15 students for National Manufacturing Day where students were given a tour of the factory and enjoyed a VR interactive session.

During the factory tour students were able to meet Kiana their resident robot along with seeing all of the control systems that are used in places like Alton Towers and by companies such as JCB and BMW.

The VR headsets are used when showing customers a product before it is built for them to check the product and to see if they want to make any improvements or modifications. This saves the company and the customer money.

Well done to the chosen year 8 students for asking some great questions and for representing the school so well and a big thank you to all the staff at Iconsys for making them feel so welcome.  We really enjoyed celebrating National Manufacturing Day with you!
