Careers insight - Therapeutic RadiographyWed, 09 Nov 2022Students at the School’s Medical Society were treated to an inspiring talk from Mercia and Ro from Shrewsbury & Telford Hospitals NHS Trust this week. Mercia is a therapeutic radiographer who uses cutting edge technology to treat cancer patients using radiotherapy and she explained all about her role, the equipment she uses and the differences between diagnostic and therapeutic radiography. She even brought in some of the equipment she uses to immobilise patients during treatment which students enjoyed trying out for size! Ro is a student radiographer who talked about what attracted her to the role. She said that radiography is dynamic and constantly changing, allows you to work as part of a team and most importantly enables you to really build up rapport with patients. MedSoc students asked some brilliant questions and learnt all about radiographers’ role at the centre of patient care.
